The Details
San Francisco needs a new approach to problem-solving. We must embrace innovative ideas and ensure they are effectively implemented. City Hall has neglected critical investments in our climate action goals and transportation solutions due to a lack of bold, ambitious leadership. It’s time to change that.
I am proud that my campaign has talked about the climate emergency since day one. In June, I released a proposal to incentivize Climate Tech companies to help fill our 35 million square feet of vacant office space. This Downtown Climate Innovation Hub will leverage our city’s leadership in AI research to boost the Climate Tech sector working on decarbonization strategies in light of AI’s large carbon footprint.
Public transit is also an integral part of the solution. San Francisco needs a world-class transit system to meet our climate goals and to accelerate our economic recovery. Transit must be fast, reliable and safe. I will bring together people who take transit, bike, walk and drive. Instead of demonizing one another, we will make a comprehensive plan to actually implement solutions instead of just talking about them.
Nearly all San Franciscans use multiple modes of transportation. I take my kids to school every day in our electric vehicle, and I regularly bike and use public transit. San Franciscans are not just pedestrians or motorists. We are both and more.
Prioritizing Safety on Our Streets
The safety of San Francisco’s streets is non-negotiable. I will work to ensure that our streets are safe for everyone—whether you’re walking, biking, or driving. That means redesigning dangerous intersections, improving lighting, and fully staffing our police force to enforce traffic laws. No one should feel unsafe on our city’s roads or transit, and under my leadership, we will make sure they don’t.
Bring Accountability to SFMTA
Public transportation is the backbone of our city’s mobility. I will fight for investments in Muni that prioritize safety, reliability, and frequency, so that every San Franciscan has access to affordable, efficient transit options. Whether you’re commuting to work or taking your kids to school, you deserve a transit system that works for you.
Too often projects are done to communities instead of being done with communities. I will ensure that SFMTA projects are completed efficiently and effectively and that the agency is held accountable to the residents and small businesses they’re meant to serve. This also means engaging and truly listening to the communities these projects impact, something SFMTA has historically failed to do.
Create a Safe Connected Network of Bike Lanes
As some who rides a bike around the City, I appreciate the value of getting around on two wheels. I will expand our network of protected bike lanes, making cycling a safer and more attractive option for commuters and families alike. We’ll also explore a public bike-sharing program and low-income rebates for e-bike purchasers, making it easier for residents to choose biking as their primary mode of transportation.
Make Transportation Accessible and Equitable
Transportation should be accessible to every San Franciscan, regardless of where they live or how much they earn. I will work to ensure that all neighborhoods—especially those historically underserved—have access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation options. This includes expanding transit routes, improving signal timing, and providing more resources for low-income riders, because everyone deserves to get where they need to go.
Create Public EV Charging for All
San Francisco has fallen behind in providing accessible public EV charging stations. Over a third of new vehicles in our city are all-electric, and half are hybrids or EVs, yet our infrastructure hasn’t kept pace. I will create a roadmap to ensure public EV chargers are on every city block, park, and commercial corridor. We’ll streamline the permitting process for all EV infrastructure, establish public-private partnerships for curbside charging, and explore incentives like preferred parking for EVs. Additionally, we’ll pursue vehicle-to-grid opportunities, generating potential revenue streams for the city while supporting our transition to clean energy.
Put Climate Plans into Climate Action
San Francisco has the vision, committed voter base, and local talent to lead again on climate action, but what’s been missing is leadership and prioritization at City Hall. As a San Francisco native and father of two, I see this as an existential issue for future generations. I will prioritize climate action not just in words, but in dollars and policy. I will pursue innovative funding strategies for the Climate Action Plan, bringing accountable leadership and new ideas to secure the necessary funding.
Elevate the Department of the Environment
The Department of the Environment has been punching above its weight, bringing in state and federal grants far exceeding its modest budget. I will prioritize funding and staff expansion for this crucial department, while elevating their mission within the city bureaucracy. By better equipping them, we can scale their impact and drive more ambitious climate policies across San Francisco.
Incentivize Electrifying and Greening Our Buildings
I will work with the state to lower property taxes for buildings that electrify and cap off gas connections. I’ll streamline the permitting process for electrification projects and repeal outdated regulations that make our city a noncompetitive market for installing rooftop solar. I’ll also promote ‘Clean & Green’ certificates and incentives for restaurants and businesses to adopt sustainable practices, and champion heat pump HVAC systems as life-saving investments in our future. Additionally, I’ll push for contractor and student retraining on electrification technologies, in partnership with unions and local educational institutions.
Unlock New Funding Streams
I will collaborate with the private sector and state and regional governments to finance ambitious projects that protect our environment while addressing critical social needs. By setting bold outcome measurements and transparently evaluating progress, San Francisco will become more competitive for future funding opportunities.
Even the best ideas mean nothing without proper implementation. Under our current leadership and bureaucracy, well-intended ideas get watered down, implemented years late and run massively over budget—if they’re implemented at all. All of my opponents come from a system defined by delays, corruption and small thinking. This is our moment to act. With strong leadership and a commitment to real, measurable progress, we can make San Francisco the model for cities around the world.
